Celebration. Accomplishment. High school graduation is often thought of in these terms. As it should be, high school graduation is a major milestone and momentous accomplishment for students on the cusp of adulthood. Intense focus on the celebratory aspects of graduation does not provide ample consideration to the grief centered around the life changes that accompany this milestone: leaving a familiar place with consistency of schedules, expectations, and friends. Leaving high school and attending college brings many adventures and opportunity for success, but also can trigger intense feelings of grief because the transition to college creates distance between relationships, changes in routine, finances and expectations.

“Show Them You're Good”, written by NY Times Best Selling Author, Jeff Hobbs, highlights the struggles of several high school boys as they navigate through the college application process and embark on the transition to college and young adulthood. He sheds light on the grief and struggles students unexpectedly encounter in school, at home and in the community as they celebrate the momentous accomplishment of graduating from high school.

Jeff Hobbs grew up in Kennett Square, PA. He is the author of “The Tourists”, a national bestseller, and “The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace”, a New York Times bestseller, notable book of the year, and winner of the LA Times Book Prize. “Show Them You're Good” is his second work of nonfiction. Mr. Hobbs lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children. His books can be found by clicking online at Amazon.com, or by shopping at and supporting your local book store.
